To help explain how Bimervax works, HIPRA collaborated with Pixel Medical Animation to create a detailed 3D animation (3D For Science)illustrating the mechanism of action of the Bimervax vaccine, making its functionality accessible both to healthcare professionals and the general public. This animation is a crucial tool in understanding the technical details of how this vaccine protects against COVID-19.Bimervax is a recombinant protein-based vaccine. Generally speaking, vaccines work by preparing the immune system to identify and fight pathogens without exposing the body to the actual disease. This is achieved by introducing a harmless or weakened version of the virus, or a portion of it, to teach the immune system to recognize and attack the real pathogen if exposed to it in the future.Utilizing recombinant protein technology and an adjuvant to generate a strong, lasting immune response, the collaboration with Pixel Medical Animation in creating a 3D animation of the vaccine’s mechanism of action makes this complex process easier to understand. Unlike mRNA-based vaccines, which instruct the patient’s own cells to temporarily produce a viral protein, a recombinant protein vaccine such as Bimervax directly introduces the already-manufactured protein — in this case a version of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein — together with an adjuvant that reinforces the immune response.
