Immersive Medical Metaverse for Zeiss Medical

At Pixel Medical Animation, we specialize in creating immersive experiences within the healthcare sector. A standout example of this is the development of an immersive medical metaverse for Zeiss Medical Technology, a global leader in medical and optical technology, founded in 1846. Zeiss Medical entrusted us with creating an interactive and engaging experience for their booth at the SEO Congress 2022, held at the Palacio de Congresos y Auditorio de Navarra from September 21–24, 2022.

Objective of the Project for ZEISS:

Our challenge was to design a medical metaverse using virtual reality to attract and captivate attendees at the congress. The project focused on accurately recreating three advanced surgical microscopes: the IOL Master 700, Artevo 800, and Quatera 700. Not only did we precisely represent the exterior of the equipment, but we also created an immersive experience where users could enter a simulated operating room and interact directly with the features of each microscope.

Functionality of Zeiss’s Medical Metaverse

The metaverse we developed was designed to be accessible both through major web browsers and virtual reality headsets, specifically Oculus Quest 2. This way, anyone could access and experience this innovative environment via the ZEISS Medical Hospital Solutions platform.

The integration of virtual reality into medicine opens new opportunities for communication and marketing within the healthcare sector. To recreate medical equipment in the highest faithful rendition, at Pixel Medical Animation, we use advanced techniques like photogrammetry and laser scanning. These processes allow us to develop detailed and precise 3D models, ensuring that each component is accurately represented. Whether for medical technology exhibitions or surgical planning, these virtual representations provide hyper-realistic visualization that supports both education and promotion of medical equipment.

Interactivity and Navigation

The user experience in our virtual environments is completely free, allowing for navigation in all directions of the space and direct interaction with the represented equipment. Users can access videos and technical sheets for each surgical microscope and download them directly from the metaverse, making it easier to understand the technical aspects and evaluate the products.
