HIPRA | 3D FOR SCIENCE BIMERVAX MOA
“3D for science“: HIPRA is a global pharmaceutical company based in Spain, founded in 1954, specializing in the research, development, production, and commercialization of vaccines. Initially focused on the veterinary sector, HIPRA has been a pioneer in preventive health solutions for animals, using biotechnology to develop innovative vaccines.
With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, HIPRA decided to leverage its vaccine development expertise to contribute to the global fight against the coronavirus. Among its standout products is Bimervax, a vaccine designed to combat SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing COVID-19.

BIMERVAX VACCINE 3D FOR SCIENCE
Bimervax from HIPRA marks a significant advancement in the fight against COVID-19.
To help explain how Bimervax works, HIPRA collaborated with Pixel Medical Animation to create a detailed 3D animation (3D For Science)illustrating the mechanism of action of the Bimervax vaccine, making its functionality accessible both to healthcare professionals and the general public. This animation is a crucial tool in understanding the technical details of how this vaccine protects against COVID-19.Bimervax is a recombinant protein-based vaccine. Generally speaking, vaccines work by preparing the immune system to identify and fight pathogens without exposing the body to the actual disease. This is achieved by introducing a harmless or weakened version of the virus, or a portion of it, to teach the immune system to recognize and attack the real pathogen if exposed to it in the future.Utilizing recombinant protein technology and an adjuvant to generate a strong, lasting immune response, the collaboration with Pixel Medical Animation in creating a 3D animation of the vaccine’s mechanism of action makes this complex process easier to understand. It allows people to visualize how the vaccine protects against SARS-CoV-2. Bimervax offers a flexible and effective tool to combat both the original virus and emerging variants.HIPRA AUDIOVISUAL BIMERVAX

BIMERVAX
- We improve traditional Presentations / PowerPoints: 3D Medical Animations can be integrated into PowerPoint presentations to make them more dynamic and visually engaging. This is especially useful in medical congresses, seminars, and meetings with investors, where presenting complex information clearly and effectively is key. Animations help capture the audience’s attention, improve information retention, and highlight the innovation and experience of your company.
- We enhance the Visual Impact at Stands, Fairs, and Exhibitions: 3D animation (3D for science) is a powerful tool for medical exhibition stands. It can be used to create immersive, interactive experiences with touchscreens where visitors can explore procedures, treatments, and devices. 3D animations capture the attention of attendees and provide an effective way to communicate the company’s value proposition.
- We help you attract New Clients through Websites and Social Media:3D animations can be integrated into websites and social media to attract and educate patients. Animated videos can visually and easily explain procedures, treatments, and products. This enhances the online user experience and boosts social media engagement, helping you attract new clients and strengthen your brand presence.
WE WORK AS A TEAM
We are experts in medical communication
We implement 3D for sciencevisual strategies to enhance communication with your target audience and make your medical presentations a success.About the recombinant protein technology behind Bimervax
Unlike mRNA-based vaccines, which instruct the patient’s own cells to temporarily produce a viral protein, a recombinant protein vaccine such as Bimervax directly introduces the already-manufactured protein — in this case a version of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein — together with an adjuvant that reinforces the immune response. It is a technology platform with decades of use in other vaccines, which brings a known safety record when the product has to be explained to healthcare professionals and regulatory agencies.
This family of recombinant protein platforms has also been used for decades in vaccines against hepatitis B or human papillomavirus, which makes it easier for a healthcare professional already familiar with that type of technology to quickly grasp the general principle behind Bimervax, even though the target protein and the specific adjuvant are different in each case.
Frequently asked questions about the 3D mechanism of action animation for Bimervax
Why did HIPRA choose to explain Bimervax through 3D animation instead of a conventional data sheet?
A data sheet describes the mechanism of action with text and static diagrams, but the real process — how the immune system recognises the recombinant protein, generates antibodies and develops immune memory — happens at molecular scale and in several simultaneous phases. 3D animation makes it possible to show that sequence visually and in order, so that both healthcare professionals and non-specialist audiences can follow the process without needing any prior knowledge of immunology.
Who is this animation mainly aimed at?
It was designed with a dual audience in mind: on one hand, healthcare professionals who need to understand the mechanism of action precisely in order to explain it to their patients; on the other, a general audience interested in how the vaccine works. That dual purpose determines the level of technical detail and the pace of the narration, seeking a balance between scientific rigour and clarity.
How is the scientific accuracy of the animation guaranteed?
The content is developed in direct collaboration with HIPRA’s scientific team, which validates every stage of the script: the structure of the recombinant protein, the role of the adjuvant and the immune response sequence being represented. No scene is considered final until the medical and pharmaceutical team confirms that it accurately reflects the real biological process, something that matters especially when the material may be used before regulatory agencies or in clinical contexts.
Can this animation be reused in formats other than the website?
Yes. Once produced, the same mechanism of action animation can be adapted for medical congress presentations, training materials for medical sales representatives, social media content or explanatory resources aimed directly at patients, adjusting the length and the level of technical detail to the channel and the audience in each case.
How long does it take to produce a mechanism of action animation like the one for Bimervax?
It depends on how many biological phases need to be represented and on the level of molecular detail required. For a mechanism of action with several stages — recognition of the protein, response of the immune system and generation of immune memory, as in this case — the complete process, from scientific validation of the script to the final render, usually takes several weeks, with at least one round of review by the pharmaceutical team.
What role can this type of animation play in communication with regulatory agencies or in scientific materials?
Although 3D animation does not replace the official technical and regulatory documentation of a drug or a vaccine, it can accompany it as supporting material for internal presentations, sales team training or scientific outreach, always making clear that it is an educational resource and not the approved data sheet of the product.
What is the difference between this animation and one developed for other pharmaceutical mechanisms of action?
Every mechanism of action has its own biological logic — representing how a local anti-inflammatory works is not the same as showing how the immune system generates antibodies against a viral protein — so the scientific script and the level of molecular detail are adapted to each specific case, even though the production and validation process with the client’s scientific team follows a similar methodology across all the 3D for science projects we develop.
How is the animation adapted when the audience includes different profiles, such as investors or the media?
For non-clinical audiences such as investors or general media, the technical terminology is usually simplified without altering the underlying scientific content, relying more on the visual narrative of the process than on exact molecular nomenclature, so that the central message — how the vaccine protects the body — remains accurate and at the same time accessible to someone without biomedical training.
Does this animation also work as support material for the sales team during medical visits?
Yes, it is one of the most common uses once the project is finished: medical representatives can rely on short fragments of the animation during their visits to healthcare professionals, visually reinforcing an explanation that would otherwise depend only on the data sheet or on a verbal account, which speeds up the conversation and helps the message to be better retained.
What happens if the vaccine or the mechanism of action is updated with new scientific evidence?
If new relevant evidence about the mechanism of action appears, or the indication of the product is extended, the animation can be revised and updated selectively without rebuilding the whole project from scratch, as long as the base 3D model and the narrative structure remain valid, which reduces the cost and the time needed to maintain the material in the medium term.
If your pharmaceutical or biotech company needs to explain the mechanism of action of a complex product to healthcare professionals, patients or in an internal training context, at Pixel Medical Animation we work alongside your scientific team to translate that knowledge into a rigorous, clear 3D animation adapted to the target channel and audience.
