──── ABOUT THE SERVICE ────
3D MEDICAL ANIMATION IN CHICAGO
We are a 3D medical animation studio specialising in interactive content and serious games for Chicago healthcare, nutrition and device companies.
Animation people use, not only animation people watch.
Chicago and its northern suburbs are home to Abbott, one of the few companies operating across diagnostics, devices and medical nutrition at the same time. That mix is exactly where interactive content earns its keep, because the audience is rarely a specialist.
For Abbott we developed a serious game around Glucerna, turning nutritional and glucose management guidance into something a person plays rather than reads. For SEMDOR we built interactive material for pain medicine professionals.
A serious game is judged differently from a film. Nobody finishes it out of politeness. If the interaction is confusing or the reward is empty, the user leaves at minute two and the clinical message never lands.
So we design the mechanic and the message together from the start: what the user does, what they learn by doing it, and what they should still remember a week later.
3D Medical Animation for Chicago Healthcare & Pharma
The Chicago area is home to some of the biggest names in pharma and medical devices — including Abbott, Baxter, and Medline — supported by major academic medical centers across the city.
We help Chicago healthcare, pharmaceutical and device companies communicate innovation through 3D medical animation. Our work visualizes mechanisms of action, product function, and clinical procedures for training, trade shows, and product launches.
Our animations help marketing, medical affairs, and sales teams explain sophisticated technology with clarity and impact.
Abbott, a global healthcare company headquartered in North Chicago, Illinois, partnered with Pixel Medical Animation to develop a Virtual Reality Serious Game for the presentation of Glucerna® at the SEMDOR 2023 Congress. Through gamification, virtual reality, and educational storytelling, the project transformed complex nutritional concepts into an intuitive and memorable experience, reinforcing Abbott’s commitment to innovation in medical education.
3D MEDICAL ANIMATION SERVICES
Serious games and interactive learning
Content people use rather than watch. The mechanic and the clinical message are designed together, because nobody finishes a serious game out of politeness.
Patient engagement and nutrition education
Guidance on glucose, nutrition and daily management turned into something a person plays. Our Glucerna work for Abbott is built on exactly this.
Diagnostics and device animation
How a test or a device works, explained to audiences that are rarely specialists: pharmacists, nurses, carers, buyers.
Gamified training for internal teams
Product and protocol training that measures itself, so you know who completed it and what they actually retained.
WHO NEEDS 3D MEDICAL ANIMATION?
Diagnostics and device companies
To explain how a test or a device works to audiences that are rarely specialists.
Medical nutrition and consumer health brands
To turn dietary and metabolic guidance into content people finish, which is the hard part.
Hospital networks
To support patient education and staff training with material that gets used rather than filed.
Training and learning teams
To replace static modules with interactive content that shows what was completed and what was retained.

BENEFITS OF 3D MEDICAL ANIMATION
Content people finish
A serious game is judged by completion, not by views. If the mechanic is weak the clinical message never lands.
Training you can measure
Interactive modules record what was completed and what was retained, which static video cannot.
Explaining to non specialists
Tests, devices and nutrition guidance explained to carers, pharmacists and patients rather than to specialists.
Engagement beyond the appointment
Something a person keeps using at home, where most of the behaviour change actually happens.
Reusable across channels
The same interactive core adapted for web, congress stand and internal training.
3D MEDICAL ANIMATION FOR CLINICAL SPECIALTIES
We create custom 3D medical animation projects adapted to specific medical disciplines, blending scientific accuracy, visual realism, and clear storytelling.
Each animation is crafted to communicate procedures, treatments, and mechanisms effectively across different specialties.
Medical devices
Diagnostic and delivery devices explained to the people who use them daily rather than to engineers.
Anatomy
The anatomy behind a test result or a treatment, at the level a patient or a carer can follow.
Cardiology
Cardiovascular and metabolic risk shown as a process, which is what makes prevention messages land.
Immunology
Immune and inflammatory processes explained for education and training rather than for publication.
Oncology
Tumour biology and treatment pathways, adapted for patient facing and professional versions.
Genetics
Inherited risk and molecular diagnostics explained without assuming prior knowledge.
Biotechnology
Biotechnological processes behind nutrition, diagnostics and therapies.
Neuroscience
Neurological mechanisms turned into interactive material for training and education.

WORK PROCESS
1
Research and scripting
Each project starts with detailed medical research and script development, ensuring scientific accuracy and visual consistency throughout the animation.
2
3D modeling and animation
All medical, biological, and pharmaceutical components are modeled and animated in 3D with careful attention to realism and educational clarity.
3
Rendering and post-production
Each animation is produced in high resolution, integrating visual effects, labels, and graphic elements to ensure optimal performance across both digital and live platforms.
FACTORS THAT DETERMINE THE PRICE OF A 3D MEDICAL ANIMATION
Project complexity
Pricing depends on the number of 3D assets involved, the length of the animation, and the degree of interactivity required.
Level of detail
Visualizing molecular or microscopic processes generally requires more development time and resources than animating external medical devices.
Delivery timeline
Production timelines are defined by the scope of the project. Highly complex medical animations require extended development periods to achieve the highest quality standards.
FAQS
How much does a 3D medical animation cost?
It depends on duration, level of detail and resources required.
How long does production take?
Usually between 3 and 8 weeks, depending on complexity and final format.
What usage rights are granted?
Clients receive full ownership and usage rights for all final content.
What formats are delivered?
Full HD or 4K videos, optimized for web, congresses or medical e-learning platforms.
Can VR or AR be integrated?
Yes. We combine 3D medical animation with virtual and augmented reality to enhance immersion and learning.
How is scientific accuracy validated?
Each project is reviewed with clients and, when required, with external medical advisors to ensure scientific precision.
How does an interactive project run remotely with a Chicago team?
You get test builds you can open in a browser from the first weeks, so the mechanic is judged by using it rather than by reading a description. Chicago is seven hours behind Barcelona, and our afternoon covers your morning for the calls that matter.
