Augmented Reality Application for Hartmann – DressBox®
Technical visualization and spatial planning in AR for healthcare environments
Efficient space management in hospitals is an ongoing challenge. The introduction of new technologies, furniture, or devices requires precise planning, with no margin for error. To address this, we developed an augmented reality (AR) application for HARTMANN, designed to help healthcare professionals and purchasing managers visualize DressBox® — their single-use pajama dispenser — in full size, directly over their physical environment.
Through this innovative solution, users can explore the device in 3D, learn about its technical features, and configure different locations to check how many units will actually fit in their hospital or clinic.
Why is Augmented Reality effective for hospital planning?
AR allows you to overlay virtual objects on the real world through a mobile phone or tablet. Instead of imagining how a machine will look in a locker room or hallway, you can see it in real time, at a 1:1 scale.
This technology has several direct advantages:
- Realistic visualization: See exactly how DressBox® will look in operating rooms, locker rooms, or passage areas.
- Precise measurement: Place one or multiple units with real-world distances to check accessibility and circulation in the installation area.
- Informed decision-making: Evaluate the availability of space relative to the equipment needed on-site.
- No need to move any real machines: All of this is done through the app, with no logistics, no construction, no risks.
Clinical Applications of AR in Hartmann – DressBox® Installation
1. Evaluation of available space in hospitals
Many hospital areas have tight measurements. AR helps visualize if a DressBox® fits in locker rooms, without blocking doors, disrupting traffic, or obstructing staff access.
Case Study: In a hospital in Madrid, the maintenance team used the app to check if they could install two units without interfering with a critical passage area. The project was approved on the spot.
2. Simulation of multiple configurations
Not all centers need the same setup. With the AR configurator, users can:
- Probar diferentes ubicaciones dentro de un mismo espacio
- Alternar modelos o módulos de DressBox®
- Medir distancias entre máquinas y estructuras cercanas
- Crear capturas para compartir con el equipo directivo
3. Herramienta de soporte para el equipo comercial
El equipo de ventas de HARTMANN puede ahora mostrar DressBox® sin mover la máquina física, permitiendo presentaciones en ferias, reuniones institucionales o incluso en remoto.
Ventajas clave:
- Test different locations within the same space
- Switch between DressBox® models or modules
- Measure distances between machines and nearby structures
- Capture images to share with the management team
A revolution in the way we sell, plan, and decide
Augmented reality is transforming the way the healthcare sector plans, decides and communicates.
This application developed for DressBox® demonstrates how a simple app can:
- Accelerate decision-making processes
- Avoid costly planning mistakes
- Improve understanding of technical products
- Offer an innovative and engaging user experience
